If need ĂƌŝƐĞƐ, the valve may be slung around the valvebody at ƚŚĞ ŶĞĐŬ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ĞŶĚ ŇĂnge.5.1.4.The cranĞ ǁŝƌĞ ƐŚould not be slung around the actuator / gear unŝt to ĂǀŽŝĚ any load acƟŶŐ on ŝt. ůƐŽ͕ ĞŶƐƵƌĞ ƚŚĂƚ ǁŚŝůĞ hanĚůŝŶg the valve, no external load acts on the actuator/gear uŶŝƚ͘5.1.5.Valves sŚĂůů ŶŽƚ ďĞ ŚĂŶĚůĞĚ ǁŝth the hand wheel keyed / Įxed to the geĂƌ ƵŶŝƚ. VALVE INSTALLATION6.1.General6.1.1. www.vahn-tech.com6.1.5.Valves can be mounted in a horizontal ( with stem upwards only ) or verƟĐĂů posiƟŽŶ ĚĞƉending onWŝƉĞůŝŶĞ ƌŽƵƟŶŐ͕ s ,EͲd , ĚŽĞƐ ŶŽƚ ƌĞĐŽŵŵend installing the valve with the actuator on theunderneath side because dirt in the pipline may enter the body cavity and damage the gland packing.&ŝŐ͘ ϯ͘ s ,EͲd , /ŶƚĞƌŶĂƟŽŶĂů Ăůů sĂůǀĞ ŝŶƐƚĂůůŝŶŐ ŽŶ ƉŝƉĞůŝŶĞ6.1.6.It is recommended to remove all foreign parƟcles from the pipe line by ŇƵshing it with a suitableŇƵŝĚ͘ ŽƌƌŽsion inhibitors sŚĂůů ďĞ ĂĚĚĞĚ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ŇƵshing medium to prevent any corrosion due totrappeĚ ŇƵŝĚƐ͘ hd/KE If valve is not cleaned or if cleaning is done onlLJ ĂŌĞƌ ǀalve installaƟŽŶ, valve caviƟĞs mayform a natural trap in the piping system and any impurity not dissolved or washed out by theŇƵƐŚŝnŐ ŇƵŝĚ ͬ ůŝŶĞ ŇƵŝĚ ŵĂLJ seƩle in such caviƟĞs and adversely ĂīĞct valve performance.6.1.7.Remove the end protectors and protecƟve sheath within the ŇŽǁ boree of the valve, whereverprovided.6.1.8. Ōer removal of end protectors, thoroughly clean valve ports ͬ cĂǀŝƟĞƐ ĂŶĚ ensure the ŇĂŶŐe gasketfaces are free from dust or debris. For cavity ŇƵshing procedure, refer secƟŽŶ 8.26.1.9.Gasket contact faces of the valve and pipe ŇĂŶŐĞs shall be inspected thoroughly for scratcheƐͬ defects. Scratches, if any, shall be corrected by grinding the surface or by rubbing with emery sheet.6.1.10. ŌĞƌ ĐůĞĂŶing, operate the valve for at least two complete cycles before installing.6.1.11. dŚĞ ǀĂlve shall be in the open pŽƐŝƟon during instalůĂƟŽŶ Ɖrocess, except in case of fail close valves,in which case addiƟŽŶĂů care shall be taken not to damage the ball surface by any debris.6.1.12. dŚĞ ƉŝƉes must be properly aligned and provisions made to minimize stresses from thermal expansŝŽŶ͘ ůǁays review pipe manufacturer's recomŵĞŶĚĂƟons.6.1.13. In cases of pipes with long overhangs, adequate supporƚͬjacks shall be proviĚĞĚ Ăƚ ƚŚĞ ŇĂŶŐĞ ĞŶdsof the pipe so as to avoid bending of pipes due to weight of the valve.6.1.14. ZĞĨĞƌ ƉƉĞŶĚŝx – B for special consiĚĞƌĂƟŽŶs to be taken during installaƟon of valves with extendedstem.6.2.Flanged ends6.2.1.Refer secƟŽn ϭ ĨŽƌ ĂƉƉůŝĐĂďůĞ Ɛƚandards.

www.vahn-tech.com6.2.2.Align the bolt holes of the valve eŶĚ ŇĂnge and piƉĞ ŇĂŶŐĞ͘6.2.3.Insert gasket (not supplied with the valvĞͿ ĂŶĚ ƟŐŚƚen the bolts. Flange bolts sŚĂůů ďĞ ƟŐŚƚenedevenly, using a torque wrench, in croƐƐ ƌŽƚĂƟŽŶ ƚŽ Ɖƌevent damage ƚŽ ŇĂŶŐes.6.2.4.Bolts should be lubricateĚ ĨŽƌ ĞĂƐĞ ŽĨ ŝŶƐƚĂůůĂƟŽŶ͘6.2.5.For sequence of ƟŐŚtening of bolts, refer secƟŽŶ A2.CAUTIONThe improper alignment of the pipe and the valve during installĂƟŽŶ Đan lead tounbalanĐĞĚ ƟŐŚƚĞŶŝŶŐ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ŇĂŶŐes which may cause excessive stress on the bolts andlead to leakage.6.2.6.For largeƌ ŇĂŶŐĞĚ valves, which are provided with foot support, supporƟŶŐ base / pedestal shallbe placed beneath the valvĞ ĂŌĞƌ ƚŚĞ ĂůŝŐŶŵĞŶƚ ĂŶĚ ďŽůƟŶŐ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ƉŝƉĞ ĂŶĚ ƚŚĞ ǀĂlvĞ ŇĂŶŐĞƐ. Thefoot support need nŽƚ ďĞ ďŽůƚĞĚ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ŇŽŽƌ͘6.3.Welded ends6.3.1.Refer seĐƟŽn A1 for applicable standards.6.3.2.Pipe ends must be machined to make them smooth, clean and free from burrs.6.3.3.Keep the valve in open posŝƟŽŶ before installaƟŽŶ. If the valve must remain in the closeĚ ƉŽƐŝƟonextra care should be exercised to avoid weld ƐƉĂƩĞƌ ĨĂůůŝng on the ball surface.6.3.4.Alignment of the valve with the pipe must be as accurate as possible so as to get most favorableconĚŝƟŽŶ ĨŽƌ ǁĞld depoƐŝƟŽŶ͘6.3.5.All welding should be in accordance with any code or jurisdiĐƟŽŶĂl regulĂƟŽns applicable to theconstrucƟŽŶ of the piping system.CAUTIONTemperature in excess of 100 C in the seat ring area will result in seat damage. Stem sealant injectors are located in the body-stem housing forĂƌƌĞƐƟŶŐ ƐƚĞŵ ůĞĂŬĂŐĞ ĂŶĚ ƐĞĂƚ ƐĞĂůĂŶƚ ŝŶũectors are placed near the ĐŽǀĞƌ ďƵƩͲǁĞůĚ ĞŶĚƐ ŽŶ ďŽƚŚbody and body-connectors for arreƐƟŶŐ ůĞakage at ball-seat sealing region.7.5.2.Stem: Special graphite based thick sealant can bĞ ƐĐƌĞǁĞĚ ŝnside ĂŌĞƌ ƌĞŵoving grub screǁ in thesealant injector. This sealant forms a packing around the stem and hence seals the region above itfrom any line media. Once this packing is injected, online replacement of the top ring is possible.Refer secƟŽns 11.3 for procedure.7.5.3.Seat: The sealant charged passes through the injector, a check valve and through a small hole intothe seat ring and reaches the seaƟng surface of the seat ring, ǁŚŝĐŚ c ontacts the ball.
